Nicholas is very excited for the song this year, in part because Daddy thinks it's cool (or so Mommy tells me), in part because it's about an animal, in part because the whole family lights up when he gets excited.

Nicholas loves going outside to play soccer.  He'll pass the ball back and forth with me for a few minutes, and then it's a mix of him chasing me with the ball, trying to do throws (he has pretty decent technique), and otherwise running around playing and laughing.

As Joe said at one point on Monday, reflecting on the weekend, "that boy did not stop smiling the whole time." Nicholas is generally a pretty happy boy, but there was something different. He was giddy. And why not? He got to fly on an airplane, see Daddy, and spend a whole weekend at Alice's house! First, he's gotten very good with adverbs: he knows the correct use of "already," "anymore," and the like, and puts them into his sentences comfortably.

Second, he knows how to use "oy." It's kind of hilarious, actually, watching him carry his box of Legos over to the shelf to put them away, and muttering to himself, "oy ... oy ... oy."

You see, every Wednesday at his new school is "pizza day." Mommy and Daddy like it because it saves us the trouble of putting together lunch. Sigh. I didn't expect to have an apathetic teenager quite so soon.
